How to Import AI Kits in WDesignKit

Describe your website in one line, pick an AI-compatible kit, answer a few quick questions, and WDesignKit builds the site for you. You can build on a temporary sandbox site first, or send the kit straight to your own WordPress site.

What You Need

  • A WDesignKit account (free to start)
  • Your own WordPress site, if you want to import to an existing site. A sandbox needs no site.
  • Elementor or Gutenberg as your builder

Watch the new flow (40 sec):

Want the full build, start to finish? Watch the 3-minute walkthrough on YouTube.

Step 1: Describe Your Website

  1. Open wdesignkit.com.
  2. In the prompt box (“Describe It. AI Builds It for You.“), type a one-line description of your site. Example: A website for a dental clinic.
You can also tap a quick-start chip such as Agency, Business, Portfolio, Blog, WooCommerce, SaaS or Food & Drink.
  3. Use the builder dropdown at the bottom-left of the box to choose Elementor or Gutenberg.
  4. Click Generate template (the send arrow at the bottom-right of the box).

Kits shown depend on the builder you pick.

Step 2: Pick An AI-Compatible Kit

After you submit, you land on the AI page. The right panel lists only AI-compatible kits for your builder (for example, 10 kits for Elementor), each with an AI Compatible badge. Kits are marked Free or PRO.

  1. Hover over a kit.
  2. Click Use this template to continue, or Preview to see it first.

Clicking Change on the “Your template” card lets you swap kits at any time.

Prefer to browse? Go to Templates → Browse Templates and turn on the AI Compatible filter. You can also filter by Page Builder, Free/Pro, Template Type and Category (Agency, WooCommerce, Portfolio, Blog, Corporate, Educational and more).

If you are not logged in, the button reads Sign Up & Build This Site. Create your free account and the flow continues from here.

Step 3: Answer A Few Quick Questions

A chat panel opens next to the live kit preview. The AI asks for your site details one at a time, in this order:

Skip anything you don’t need. The AI writes the page copy (and blog posts, and WooCommerce products where the kit has them) from your answers.

Image library: Yes or No

  • Yes: you pick photos from the image library, and the site is filled with real images.
  • No: the site is built with grey placeholder images that you can replace later.

Step 4: Choose Colours And Fonts

The panel opens with the kit’s own colours and fonts. Change any of them, or leave them as the designer set them.

  1. Pick a colour palette.
  2. Pick your fonts.
  3. Click Continue.

These set your site’s global colours and typography.

Step 5: Choose What Your Site Needs

A dialog lets you switch on the extras you want. Options are grouped as:

  • Design (built in, so there is no toggle)
  • eCommerce
  • Dynamic Content
  • Performance
  • Security
  • Extras
  • Nexter Theme (marked Recommended for best compatibility)

Then:

  1. Turn on the toggles you want.
  2. Read the backup notice and tick I’ve read this and want to continue. Next stays disabled until you do.
  3. Click Next.

WDesignKit installs and activates the plugins needed for the options you choose.

Step 6: Choose Where To Build

The last dialog is Where Do You Want to Build?

About sandbox sites

  • A sandbox is temporary and expires after about 2 days.
  • Each sandbox uses one of your AI Sites.
  • Good for trying a kit before touching your live site.

Importing to an existing site

  • Make sure the site is connected to your WDesignKit account.
  • Take a backup first. The import changes your site’s pages, theme and settings.

Closing the last dialog without choosing an option does not build anything.

Step 7: Watch The Build

The import runs on WDesignKit’s server, with live progress shown on screen.

  • Required plugins are installed and activated for you.
  • Global settings, theme settings, plugin settings and page layouts are imported.
  • Copy, images and blog posts are filled in from your answers.
  • The import runs in resumable steps. A slow host or a closed browser tab will not leave you with a half-built site.

A sandbox build usually takes a few minutes. The progress screen may show a shorter estimate, so give it time.

Step 8: Preview And Customise

When the build finishes you will see a success message. For a sandbox it is titled Your Sandbox Site Is Ready and shows the Site link, Username, Password (use the eye icon to reveal it) and an Expires date and time.

  1. Click View site (or Preview Site after an existing-site import) to open your new site. Click Log in to sandbox to open the WordPress admin.
  2. Open it in Elementor or Gutenberg and start editing.
  3. Replace any placeholder text or images.
  4. Check the navigation menu, so the new pages show where you want them.

Tips

  • Write a specific one-line description. “A website for a family dental clinic in Pune” gives better copy than “A health website.”
  • Choose Yes on the image library if you want a site that looks finished straight away.
  • Use Write with AI if you are unsure what to say about your business.
  • Pro kits import to a connected site only. To try a kit in a sandbox, choose a Free one.
  • Importing into a site that already has content? Back up first and expect existing homepage and layout changes.
